our journey

Green Squirrel Cleaning was formed in July 2018 with the ambition to provide eco friendly and fully customisable cleaning services to the domestic and commercial market.

Honestly it hasn't been easy. It took a while to find our feet and longer to have confidence in our abilities and decision making.

We've made mistakes, but learnt so much.

We were finally getting somewhere in January 2020, then covid-19 happened and along with so many across Australia and the world we didn't know what the future may hold.

The past 15 months have been tough but we've made it and it's really all thanks to our clients.

Most returned after the lockdowns and were so pleased to have us back! Don't worry we were pleased to be back too!

We've had so many recommendations over the past 6 months that it is really down to them that we are now in this great position at all.

Thanks to all our clients and those who have recommended our services to others! We really appreciate it and couldn't have done it without you!

my story

Hi I'm Laura, I am originally from England but have called Australia home since 2012. I settled here in Melbourne when I met my partner after spending 2 years travelling Australia and New Zealand.

I enjoy cleaning and I am definitely a bit of a perfectionist! During my travels and in the years after in Melbourne I have had many roles in the cleaning and housekeeping industry which I have enjoyed and learnt a lot from.

I have never really known what I wanted to do but I always liked the idea of running my own business and in 2018 I decided that it was now or never.

The past 3 years have been exciting, terrifying, fun and tiring and quite often all in one day.

It has been a huge learning experience and I am so grateful to everyone whose helped me get here.

My partner Dale has been exceptional in dealing with my tears and tantrums when I'm tired or frustrated because I don't understand why the accounting software won't do what I want it to do or I feel like I'm never going to get anywhere!

He has always calmed me down, tried to help and very importantly kept me fed and poured the wine! I could not have done this without him.

To all the rest of my family and friends who have supported me thank you!

why green squirrel?

Did you know that squirrels are nature's very own eco warriors? Yes that's right! It's well known that squirrels' favourite food are acorns along with other nuts and seeds!

They love them so much they often bury their stash to keep them safe for future munchies. However a lot of the time they forget where they left them!

These forgotten nuts take root and grow into big beautiful trees that humans, Squirrels and other animals can enjoy!

That's right squirrels are nature's own little tree planters!

why are trees so important?

Trees are wonderful things! They provide animal habitats, help to regulate the climate, create oxygen so all animals and humans can live, can be made into sustainable building materials and are simply enjoyable to walk through or photograph.

We love trees which is why we plant them too!

Green Squirrel Cleaning is not just a cleaning company, we are carbon positive cleaning company! With the help from Carbon Positive Australia we offset our carbon footprint from our building premise and hybrid vehicle and we plant a tree for every new client we get!
